Bean hole beans & bluebrass
Oxbow, Maine—The Oxbow Community Center will be hosting its third Annual Harvest Supper on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
The meal will be served from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Bean hole beans, baked ham, baked potatoes, salads, and desserts. All you can eat by donation only.
Music will be provided from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm by local bluegrass band, Borrowed Thyme. People are encouraged to bring their own chair for the outside music portion of the event.
About the Oxbow Community Center: The Oxbow Community Center was recently designated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to preserve Oxbow’s former East End School as a community space for civil and ceremonial functions.
At a community meeting in 2024, Oxbow’s former East End School was packed with community members who came together to not only preserve the historic structure but to ensure a welcoming community space for generations to come.
A board of directors was formed and dozens of volunteers worked together to kickstart fundraising efforts. Community events such as harvest suppers serve two purposes: fundraisers to support the center’s mission as well as important opportunities to build community. In December 2025, the Oxbow Community Center received nonprofit status.
Gary Currier, president of the nonprofit said, “We recently launched our website—oxbowcommunity.org—and we have a social media presence on Facebook. People do not have to live in Oxbow to be part of the Oxbow Community Center. Everyone is welcome.”
